Two great calabashes facing each other. Before there was a clock, there was a calabash. The calabash is one of the oldest cultivated plants in Africa. The Yoruba have always known it as a vessel, a container, a thing that holds. It holds water. It holds food. It holds medicine. In the hands of a diviner it holds the sacred instruments of Ifa.
